If you're heading for the Mizzou game Saturday, you'll want to leave early if you're driving westbound Highway 40.

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) has announced that the westbound I-64 Daniel Boone Bridge will be closed this coming weekend, September 7 - 8.

Crews will be performing a biannual bridge inspection.

The bridge will close at noon on Saturday, Sept. 7, and remain closed no later than 9 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8.

MoDOT warned motorists in a press release that there will be NO ACCESS across the river from St. Louis County westbound to St. Charles County during the inspections.

The eastbound I-64 bridge will, however, remain open for the weekend.

MoDOT outlined the following schedule for the closure:

  • At approximately 10 a.m., Saturday, September 7, crews will start closing ramps in Chesterfield Valley to westbound I-64 and also installing all the traffic control and detour signs.
  • At 11 a.m., crews will begin closing lanes between Boone’s Crossing and the bridge.
  • All westbound I-64 will be closed at noon Saturday.

MoDOT advised motorists to use the other three Missouri River crossings: Interstate 70, Route 364 and Route 370.

MoDOT also had these words of advice for Mizzou fans: "Motorists going to the University of Missouri football game in Columbia are advised to leave early Saturday morning if they wish to use I-64 before lane closures begin at 11 a.m. and the full closure starts at noon Saturday."
