House Passes Bill to Improve Information on Cancer Screenings

My bill that would require mammography facilities to provide patients with information on dense breast tissue, House Bill 1510, passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 146 to 6 this week. Breast density is consistently associated with breast cancer risk and reduces the accuracy of mammograms. Women with dense tissue may benefit from additional screenings, but most patients do not know whether or not they have dense breast tissue.

This legislation will encourage open communication between patients and doctors and provide women with the information they need to make the best decisions possible about their health. Read more here.
