Capitol Report: Missourians Miss Out on Tax Cut
Congratulations to our sports teams for an excellent week! As of yesterday, the St. Louis Cardinals had won five games in a row, the Rams took down the Arizona Cardinals, and Mizzou's football team beat Toledo last Saturday.
Nixon's Tax Cut Veto Stands, Missouri Families and Businesses Lose
The House fell shy of the number of votes needed to override Nixon's veto of HB 253, meaning Missouri's families and businesses missed out on a tax cut they needed and deserved. Despite Nixon's scare tactics and manipulated information about the bill, we will continue working to reduce the tax burden on hardworking Missourians in future years. During hearings for the Improving Government Responsiveness and Efficiency Interim Committee, we have heard heartbreaking testimony from family members unsuccessfully trying to have their children removed from abusive homes. Multi-disciplinary teams capable of conducting accurate home visits are essential to ensuring that children in such situations are quickly taken from dangerous environments. Read more here.
