Committee to Question Departments on Medicaid Spending, Common Core
The first two Interim Committee on Improving Government Responsiveness and Efficiency hearings revealed disturbing levels of inefficiency and waste in the Department of Social Services’ (DSS) activities.
The federal government penalized the department for food stamp payment inaccuracy, a recent audit of grants to child care facilities exposed misused taxpayer funds, and public testimony revealed a dangerous lack of accountability in the child abuse reporting system.

Committee Holds Public Hearing on St. Louis Governance and Taxation
As Missouri’s largest metropolitan area and longtime economic engine, the St. Louis area faces a variety of unique challenges, including a complex sales tax pooling system, an overabundance of entities taxing residents, and a plethora of municipal services that fail to function efficiently.
The goal of the Joint Interim Committee on St. Louis Metropolitan Statistical Area Governance and Taxation is to recommend reforms to the area’s taxation and governance systems that will better enable St. Louis City and County to provide quality, cost-effective services to their residents. Enjoying the Athletic and Academic Experience at Mizzou
As a graduate of the University of Missouri’s physical therapy program, I was proud to share the Mizzou experience with two of my grandchildren during a campus visit earlier this month.
