According to his wife Barbara, who is running for Town and Country mayor in the April election, her husband Richard threw out the first pitch at Roger Dean Stadium Sunday, Feb. 24.

The family traveled to Florida to catch some of the spring training events, including the first games.

The following is a portion of Richard's introduction as read over the PA system prior to the pitch, according to Barbara.

Rich Hughes joins us from St. Louis, Missouri where he considers himself a diehard Cardinal baseball fan. For the past 8 years Rich has donated his time as a Cardinal Care volunteer.  For the past 2 years Rich has served on the planning committee for the Baseball Writers Association of America annual dinner. Rich is an avid collector of vintage, sports memorabilia.
