Will Vijay Singh Play the Senior PGA Championship? It's 1 Month Off

The golf hall of famer's status for next month's Senior PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club is still up in the air.

The dance card of competitors slated to compete at next month's Senior PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club grew once again this week, with the addition of Fred Couples, a wildly popular player on tour who continues to perform at a high level on the regular tour.

Couples finished The Masters at (-1) for a tie for 13th place earlier this month after playing in the final pairing Saturday at the PGA Tour's first Major of 2013. Also on the list of new players joining the field: Rocco Mediate, who gained fame for his duel with Tigers Woods at the U.S. Open in 2008.

Still not confirmed to play is Vijay Singh, who turned 50 in Februay. Singh has yet to play in a Senior PGA Tour event this season. He's been the subject of scrutiny since his admission to Sports Illustrated that he used a deer antler spray.

The SportsXChange reported earlier this month that "The process is still ongoing," according to PGA Tour spokesman Ty Votaw, with no timetable for a decision on Singh's status.

Speaking at Bellerive Monday during a Media Day event to promote next month's Championship, Ted Bishop, President of the PGA Tour of America told Patch, "At this point in time there's been no decision made by the PGA Tour as I know of that would effect his eligibility as a result of that, so I would think we would hope that he would be in the field."
