The High School Baseball Showcase highlights the top high school seniors from the area in a game at Busch Stadium.

The top St. Louis-area high school senior baseball players are gearing up to take the field at Busch Stadium Friday to face off against their matches in Illinois.

The High School Baseball Showcase highlights 25 players on each team, giving them a shot to play for NCAA coaches and big league scouts, according to a report in West Newsmagazine. The game begins at 7:15 p.m. with a home run derby and skills challenge preceding at 3:30 p.m.

Town and Country and Manchester schools Christian Brothers College, Westminster Christian Academy and Parkway South all have players on the all-star roster:

  • Jake Brentz (pitcher, Parkway South)
  • Ben Lovell (pitcher, Westminster)
  • Robert Plohr (pitcher, CBC)
  • Joe Schrimpf (catcher, CBC)
  • Justin Paulsen (first base, CBC)
Marking the showcase's third year, the game has previously had 12 participants drafted to play professionally, the West Newsmagazine report said. Former St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Chris Duncan is slated to coach the Missouri team.

The showcase comes a few weeks after Westminster wrapped up their season with a Class 4 state championship, defeating Oak Grove for the title. CBC lost in the Class 5 championship game against Francis Howell.
