17th Annual Andy Benes Golf Tournament

Westminster Christian Academy hosts expanded silent auction and other events available to non-golfers at the 17th Annual Andy Benes Golf Tournament

Westminster Christian Academy has expanded its annual golf tournament event, hosted by former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Andy Benes, to include an expanded silent auction and, for the first time, a variety of events for non-golfing participants. PGA golfer and Westminster parent Trevor Dodds will assist fellow golfers with the day’s most difficult shots, and tournament supporter and Westminster alumna Julie Buck Brooks will emcee the banquet following the tournament. The tournament will be held on Monday, June 13 at The Country Club of St. Albans.

This year’s silent action features nearly 40 items that include a variety of sports memorabilia signed by prominent St. Louis athletes, golf lessons with professional golfer Trevor Dodds, a Lake of the Ozarks vacation package and ladies’ spa packages. In addition, new this year are three live auction items to be sold during the banquet: Joe Buck’s Cardinals tickets (green seats), an autographed 5-6-7 photo featuring Albert Pujols, Stan Musial and Matt Holliday, and a Busch Stadium VIP Tour with Andy Benes.

To promote further community, Westminster will also offer admission to the St. Albans pool and to the banquet following the tournament, as well as a silent auction preview at 5 p.m. and a wide selection of volunteer opportunities the day of the event.

“We are particularly excited about this year’s event,” says Westminster advancement associate and tournament coordinator Lauren Graham. “We hope that making a variety of activities available to everyone — even those who aren’t avid golfers — will encourage community among even more of our parents, faculty and staff, students, alumni and friends, as well as create a fun and memorable experience for everyone involved!

There will be an 18-hole scramble on each of the country club’s two courses: Lewis and Clark and Tavern Creek; the shot-gun tee-off will begin at 12 p.m. The silent auction, awards and dinner banquet at the clubhouse will begin at 5 p.m.

All proceeds from the tournament will have a specialized impact on the Westminster impact for families. Funds from the annual tournament have made Westminster accessible for new families through financial aid and have impacted the experience of every student through classroom improvements and technology for teachers and students.
