CBC Hoops Standout Jordan Barnett Commits To Texas

The talented wing prospect had scholarship offers from Missouri, Michigan, Michigan State, Florida and others.

The first of several CBC seniors expected to be playing college basketball in the near future made a verbal pledge to a Division I program Thursday.

Jordan Barnett, ranked number 85 nationally in the Class of 2014 by Rivals.com, gave the pledge to attend the University of Texas. The service reports Barnett had more than a dozen scholarship offers from schools like Missouri, Michgan, Michigan State, and Florida.

It is unclear when Barnett will make the decision official. He cannot sign a formal letter of intent until at least November, or he could wait until next spring.

New CBC basketball coach Justin Tatum told Patch earlier this summer he encouraged his players to make their college choices earlier rather than later so they could focus on their own season without constant questions about the future.

Patch will update this story with reaction from Barnett when it is available.
