Westminster Football Team Visits New Town and Country Field

With Westminster Christian Academy's new school year set to start in Town and Country this August, the schools' football team recently saw its new field for the first time.

Westminster Christian Academy is set to move from Creve Coeur to its new campus in Town and Country for the upcoming 2011-2012 school year.

The Westminster Wildcat football team will start the 2011 season at a new school, with a new coach, new athletic director and new state-of-the-art facilities, including a 2,000-seat football stadium.

Westminster Spokesperson Michelle Burke said the Westminster football team has never had a home stadium. In fact, school officials said last year all games but one were away due to Ladue School District construction on the campus.

Earlier this month, Cory Snyder, Westminter's head football coach surprised the football players with a field trip to the new campus.

Athletic Director Alan Miller took the entire team on a tour of the new facilities, including the locker room, weight room and new football stadium that is currently under construction.

“We are very excited about the new stadium," Miller said. "We have been playing on grass without a press box and without convenient locker rooms for so long that I don’t think they could believe it was really happening."

“We’ve heard a lot about the new campus and the football stadium,” said Landon Burke, a team captain and Westminster junior. “It is pretty amazing to see it firsthand and to realize that it is actually happening! It makes me excited to start the season!”

Miller said the team and coaches are also excited about the weight room that looks out over the plaza field and will provide significantly more room for athletes to work out.

The football stadium, set to be completed this summer, is part of the $50-million campus construction project, Burke told Patch.

This Saturday a ceremonial walk will take place from the Creve Coeur campus to the new Town and Country campus.

Wildcats open their season at home against Wheaton Academy, at 5 p.m. August 25.
