Born and raised in Wheaton, Illinois, Stoner received an undergraduate degree from Wheaton College and a Master of Divinity degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts.  While serving in his current role as head of school at Covenant Christian Academy in the Boston area, he earned a Doctor of Education degree from Boston University.  Now in his 16th year at Covenant, Tom was instrumental in the early years of the school as both a teacher and administrator. During his tenure, Covenant has grown its enrollment, added grades 9 through 12, and relocated to a new state-of-the-art facility, all in accordance with the school’s strategic plan and through reliance on God in a challenging market for Christian education.

Stoner and his wife Carrie have been married for 20 years and have four children, Lauren (14), Emily (12), David (10), and Jonathan (7).

Search Committee Member and President-Elect of the Board of Directors Mike Stanfill says, “Jim Marsh has served us well, and he leaves us with great facilities, dedicated faculty, and a growing enrollment,” he says. “I’m excited to stand with Tom Stoner as he becomes our first new head of school in 28 years. I believe our community will quickly appreciate how his commitment to Christian education and his alignment with Westminster’s mission have prepared him for this role.”
