According to a report by KMOV investigative reporter Craig Cheatham, the district cut $8 million of that this year and those budget cuts eliminated 130 full-time positions.

However, Cheatham also reports that a few months after deciding on the cuts, the district gave all of its administrators and department heads pay raises, including all 70 employees making more than $100,000 a year. Hmm, acting just like politicians. Had enough? IF they ELIMINATED these 70 jobs paying over $100,000 per year PLUS BENEFITS, Parkway would have OVER $ 7 million dollars to rehire. I wonder how the fired/laid off Parkway workers feel about this?

This is our taxpayer money. Doesn't anyone oversee how it's spent? Doesn't do much good to uncover misuse of funds if nothing is ever done!

The taxpayers are to blame! Very FEW people spend any time getting to know what these Board Members are supporting and worst of all MOST taxpayers don't even vote at all in the school board elections! GETTING RID of some of these board members and voting in responsible people would be a start!! Also, DON'T vote in anymore tax increases and bond issues until these folks get their financial house in order!!!! That means CUTTING the waste!! Parkway, Rockwood .....both the same......they do whatever is necessary to give the people at the TOP raises! We the taxpayer actually have the power but we are too lazy to use it and that's what they count on!

227k/year? And the average teacher makes less than 1/4 of that? Something is awry....

I don't know the full details about the elimination of so many positions, how that will effect class size, or how Parkway will be able to maintain it's position as a top notch school district. Wouldn't it be interesting to hear, from the administrators and the school board, an explanation justifying how they can give big raises in lieu of the cuts that were made. I have lived in the Parkway District for 50 years, sent three children through the school system, worked for tax increases and bond measures over that period of time, and never, ever voted against increases, because I believed in the integrity of the school officials, and wanted the best for the children in the district. I may well look very closely in the future about any proposals for tax increases, as I am appalled by the pay raises . Bus schedules have been juggled and teachers laid off, and it's blamed on the economy, so justify the pay increases to the administrators and department heads. The school board and Supt. Marty owe a full explanation to the taxpayers in Parkway School District
