Manchester Educator is Quarterfinalist For First-Ever Music Educator Award

Bridget Zimmermann with Barretts Elementary School is among the music teachers selected across the country for the award presented by the recording academy and the grammy foundation, according to Grammy.com.

According to Grammy.com, Bridget Zimmermann with Barretts Elementary School in Manchester is among 217 music teachers who made the quarterfinals for the Music Educator Award presented by The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation.

The article states that more than 30,000 nominations were submitted nationwide and Zimmermann made the cut that includes teachers 195 cities across 45 states.

"The Music Educator Award was established to recognize current educators (kindergarten – college, public and private schools) who have made a significant and lasting contribution to the field of music education and who demonstrate a commitment to the broader cause of maintaining music education in the schools," the article states.

One person will be selected to be recognized from 10 finalists, according to Grammy.com. The winner will be flown to Los Angeles to accept the award, attend the GRAMMY Awards ceremony and receive a $10,000 honorarium, the article adds.

In addition, the article states that the nine remaining finalists will receive a $1,000 honorarium and the schools of all 10 finalists will receive matching grants.
