Parkway South Student Honored for Foreign Language Excellence

It's the first year the University of Missouri-St. Louis has bestowed the honors.

Maya Mills from Parkway South High School was one among 24 area high school students who received a Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Languages at a recognition dinner on March 21 in the Millennium Student Center at the University of Missouri-St. Louis' North Campus.

This is the first year the honors were bestowed.

"The goal of our event is to celebrate the study of foreign languages and encourage students to continue this pursuit at the university level," Ron Yasbin, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, said in a statement.
