Hanna Woods Elementary School students celebrated art by dedicating and entire night to appreciating and participating in it.

Hanna Woods, in the Parkway School District, has been an Arts Partners participant for 18 years. Each year, Arts Partners integrates art education into the core curriculum though workshops and other activities. The program also sponsors field trips and school-wide performances.

Although the program is county wide, Hanna Woods Elementary was one of the first school to enroll in the program. Hanna Woods staff tell Patch that they really use the program to its fullest extent and very consistently.

Arts Partners is completely paid for by the fundraising efforts of the program's parent committee.

In addition to numerous activities, to partner art, music and curriculum, the school holds Arts Night, which is the culminating celebration of the year’s activities. Student’s performances and exhibits highlight the artistic achievements of the year. This year, there were concerts in the gym, storytelling in the library and art displays.

An auction was also held in the school commons area where student's could bid on chances to enjoy activities with their favorite Hanna Woods teachers and staff. Parents bid on ice cream parties, a tie-dye project, making a stepping stone, bowling, treasure hunt, after school snacks and a movie. There was also an opportunity to be principal for the day, librarian for the day and to name a hallway in honor of your child.

There was also a raffle and the Grand Glaze Library had an informational table set up at the event to offer more details on the library's many activities.
