Fast Five: Football Coach Duncan Talks Parkway West, Central Face-Off

Patch asked Parkway West Football Head Coach Jeff Duncan five quick questions as the Longhorns take on rivals Parkway Central for the Homecoming game Friday.

The Parkway West football team is looking for its first win of the season in this week's Homecoming game Sept. 14. With an 0-3 start, the Longhorns will play rivals Parkway Central following the Homecoming parade and as a part of the week's celebrations.

Patch asked Longhorns Head Coach Jeff Duncan five fast questions looking at the team's preparations for the big game:

Patch: How has Parkway West competed with Parkway Central in the past?

Parkway West Football Head Coach Jeff Duncan: We have lost to Central for 3 years in a row. Our last victory came in 2008.

Patch: What struggles are the Longhorns dealing with this week?

Duncan: We have continued to turn the ball over on offense at critical times in the game. We need to eliminate that mistake in order to be successful. We also have to eliminate giving up big plays on defense.

Patch: What do you see as the Longhorns' biggest challenge against Central?

Duncan: We have to be able to compete with them on the offensive and defensive line in order for us to be successful.

Patch: What improvements have the Longhorns made since their last game?

Duncan: Our focus is to continue to get better in all phases of the game. As mentioned, our big focus is eliminating turnovers on offense and big plays on defense. Other focus points include winning 1st and 3rd down.

Patch: What should fans look for at this game?

Duncan: We are hoping to compete with the mighty Colts. They are a very good football program and well coached. They are off to a 3-0 start and are rolling.  Our kids have nothing to lose. We are the underdog. We can pin our ears back, have fun and play hard.

The Longhorns and the Colts square off at Parkway West Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. To see where other Longhorns teams are playing and when, check "" each week for a round-up of team schedules on Patch.
