Cancer Support Community Offers Free Educational Workshop: Frankly Speaking About Colorectal Cancer

  Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis will host a free educational workshop for people affected by colorectal cancer. Frankly Speaking About Cancer: Colorectal Cancer will explore colorectal cancer treatment, side-effect management and psychosocial aspects of the illness.  This free workshop will take place on March 12th, from 6:30 to 8:00PM at Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis, 1058 Old Des Peres Road, 63131.

“People living with cancer and their loved ones want to know about the most recent advances in cancer research so that they can identify their best treatment options,” said Charli Prather, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, Clinical Program Director of Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis. “By taking an active role in their treatment decisions, people with cancer can improve their quality of life and may also enhance their possibility of recovery.”

The workshop will include:

  • Medical Oncologist, Dr. Gary Ratkin, Director at Missouri Baptist Cancer Center will discuss targeted therapies in colorectal cancer treatment.
  • Kathy Bearman, LCSW will discuss the psychological and social issues around this diagnosis.

Frankly Speaking About Cancer: Colorectal Cancer is part of the Frankly Speaking About Cancer series, a collection of cancer-related programs created by Cancer Support Community. This program was created in partnership with Fight Colorectal Cancer and is made possible through unrestricted educational grants from AstraZeneca and Genomic Health.
