MoDOT will supply participants with trash bags, safety vests, litter pickers and gloves and will guide volunteers along the routes while picking up litter. The goal of the event is to spread awareness of Missouri's litter problem and work toward a litter-free state.

“It’s time to get outside, get the litter picked up, and make our state beautiful this season,” Stacy Armstrong, MoDOT roadside management, said in news release. “The trash bash is a great way to get organized and actually make a difference.”

Last year, more than 18,000 people collected more than 130,000 bags of trash and tons of other debris throughout Missouri. For more information about the trash bash, visit nomoretrash.org.
