Traffic Ahead: A Heads-Up For Those Going to the Blues Game Saturday

The exit closures continue downtown, and the Blanchette Bridge will have some lanes closed overnight.

Traffic Troublemakers

What's even more maddening than road closures and construction that slow you down? Inconsiderate, irresponsible drivers that make you just shake your head in disbelief. Each week on Patch, we'll highlight some of these Traffic Troublemakers, plus give you a look at what to expect on the roads courtesy of the Missouri Department of Transportation.

This week's story comes from Nancy, Traffic Troublemaker editor's wife.

I was on Watson Road, and a car slowly pulled out into traffic in front of me, and continued to drive about 10 MPH under the speed limit. I could barely see the driver, and thought it was a classic LOL (little old lady) peering over the steering wheel. When I got close, though, I saw that this LOL was on a cell phone, totally oblivious to any other traffic! Just goes to show age doesn't matter when it comes to cell phone use.

Deja vu all over againLanes on eastbound I-64 from Jefferson to 6th Street will close this weekend

In downtown St. Louis, all lanes on eastbound I-64 from Jefferson to 6th Street will close this weekend. The closures will occur from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Sunday for bridge work. Motorists are urged to use Jefferson to I-44 as a detour to get downtown.

During Saturday night’s Blues game, drivers heading downtown only will be able to exit I-64 at 14th Street starting at 6 p.m. The eastbound ramps at Pine Street, Forest Park and Ewing will close at 7 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Sunday.

Some downtown westbound entrance ramps too

On westbound I-64, the Broadway or the 10th Street entrance ramps will also close between 5 a.m. and 8 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. Either ramp closure depends on if the left or right lane on westbound I-64 is closed. Both ramps will not be closed at the same time.

Overnight lane closures on eastbound Blanchette Missouri River Bridge beginning Sunday

Beginning Monday, January 9, motorists can expect overnight lane closures for utility work on the eastbound I-70 Blanchette Missouri River Bridge.  The work is being done to prepare for the upcoming major rehabilitation work scheduled on the westbound I-70 Blanchette Bridge. Monday, Jan. 9, crews will close one eastbound lane from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m.  A second lane and both of the Fifth Street ramps to eastbound I-70 will close at 8 p.m.  Monday, Jan. 9 through Thursday, Jan. 12, crews will close one eastbound I-70 from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.  A second lane and both of the Fifth Street ramps to eastbound I-70 will close at 9 p.m.

  •   I-70, St. Louis City, right lane on eastbound I-70 closed from St. Louis Avenue to Broadway until summer 2012.
