I have heard from scores of people in the district all asking me to oppose recognizing Rush as a famous Missourian. I have responded and asked them to send their comments to the Speaker. It is a prerogative of the Speaker to make selection(s) of famous Missourian(s) and raise money to cover the cost of the sculpture(s) to be unveiled and housed in the capitol. This choice is one that I believe will inflame half of the people of the state. Particularly in light of Rush's recent outrageous comments, I am hopeful the Speaker realizes that inclusion of Rush Limbaugh could detract from the greatness of those Missourians included in the Hall of Famous Missourians. And, there is really nothing compelling about devoting space to a Hall of Infamous Missourians.
