Town and Country State Rep. Weighs In On Rush Limbaugh Debate

Democrat Jill Schupp represents parts of Town and Country, Creve Coeur, Chesterfield and unincorporated St. Louis County.

State Representative Jill Schupp (D-82) .

The push from democrats comes after Limbaugh called Georgetown University law student, Sandra Fluke, a "slut" and "prostitute" after she testified at hearing in Washington, D.C., in support of Pres. Barack Obama's birth control plan. (See YouTube video of Limbaugh's comments in the video portion of this article.)

Late Tuesday Schupp released the following statement to Patch:

I have heard from scores of people in the district all asking me to oppose recognizing Rush as a famous Missourian. I have responded and asked them to send their comments to the Speaker. It is a prerogative of the Speaker to make selection(s) of famous Missourian(s) and raise money to cover the cost of the sculpture(s) to be unveiled and housed in the capitol. This choice is one that I believe will inflame half of the people of the state. Particularly in light of Rush's recent outrageous comments, I am hopeful the Speaker realizes that inclusion of Rush Limbaugh could detract from the greatness of those Missourians included in the Hall of Famous Missourians. And, there is really nothing compelling about devoting space to a Hall of Infamous Missourians.

Rush certainly used the wrong words for Ms Fluke. I would like someone who is objective vs. someone with an agenda i.e. the liberal media, to answer 2 questions I have. Why are women expected to pay for contraception? It takes 2 to make a baby And second; She knew Georgetown was a Catholic school and she knew it's restrictions and rules. I don't think she's stupid. Did she want publicity? I wait with bated breath for the media to become more objective and even in their reporting. Maybe they will answer my 2 questions in a balanced and reasonable way Thank you

Don't muddle the issue....he deserves the honor. Like it on not, agree with him or not, he is famous and has changed radio talk shows forever. Liberals and conservatives should acknowledge this fact......radio talk shows will NEVER be the same. It is entertainment.
