A fantastic neighbor on Rutherford Lane. She was the greatest fan of her grandchildren and their sport pursuits. In addition to Mayor, she performed the duties of City Administrator during several months while a replacement was being recruited.

Diane Hertein was a wonderful, generous public servant, a mayor, an alderman, a resident, who served her community with commitment, with a wholeheart and generosity. She was a champion of resident based government, greenspace, and preserving our zoning fo insure the continuence of our premier community. She fell in love with her late husband, Bob Hertlein, when she was in her fifties. It was a fairytale romance. They lived in their beautiful, contemporary house with the pitched roof. I am not sure, but Bob may have designed and built it. It was filled with gorgeous, original art. It was thrilling to be invited to her house for dinner. Diane loved to cook. Her feasts were of dishes all made from scratch. They were unforgetable. Mariette Palmer rhpalmer@aol.com
