Town and Country Deer Vote Possible Monday

The Town and Country Board of Aldermen could vote Monday night on the city's deer management program. The current proposal includes sharpshooting as the only method of deer management.

The Town and Country Board of Aldermen could vote Monday night on the city's deer management program.

The current proposal includes sharpshooting as the only method of deer management. Although many residents have spoken out against lethal methods to bring down the city's deer population, those creating the proposal for the city say it is the most cost effective manner in which to decrease and manage the deer.

Alderman Al Gerber, who chairs the city's Conservation Commission, has also proposed a revised version of a deer management program that includes sterilization and sharpshooting as a method of deer control. 

At this point, unless the current proposal being considered by the city is amended, Gerber's plan is not officially being considered as a deer management plan by the city.
