St. Louis Senator Representing Missouri at RNC

State Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Glendale) will serve as a delegate at the Republican National Convention later this month in Tampa, FL. He will be among the delegates selected from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories.

The selection of delegates occurred at the township level caucuses in March, the Congressional District Conventions in April, and the State Convention in June.  Senator Schmitt was selected as an At Large National Delegate at the State Convention held in Springfield. He is a pledged delegate for Governor Romney. Missouri has a total of 52 delegates headed to Tampa.

“Being able to represent Missouri on a national stage like this is really an honor for me.” Schmitt said. “Missouri is a reliably red state focused on reducing the size of government and creating an economic environment conducive to the creation of quality jobs.  I am looking forward to speaking with Republicans from across the country about the momentum we are building in Missouri and the role we can play in getting our country back on the right track.”

St. Louis hosted the Republican National Convention in June 1896.  William McKinley won the nomination, and then the presidency in November. 

Senator Schmitt represents a large portion of St. Louis County, is Chairman of the Senate Jobs, Economic Development and Local Government committee and is a member of Senate leadership.
