Rep. John Diehl Faces Competition For MO House Speaker Position
The Republican from Town and Country is up against newly announced Rep. Caleb Jones in the race for the Missouri Speaker of the House.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Rep. Caleb Jones, R-California, announced this week that he will run for House speaker in 2015.
The article explains that Jones’ decision means that, unlike the last two speakers, House Majority Leader John Diehl, R-Town and Country, will not run unopposed in 2015. Diehl, 47, announced his bid for speaker in April.
"In a text message, Diehl, a lawyer, said that “no one should expect a free pass. I will work tirelessly, as I have done for the past five years, to maintain and hopefully grow our historic majorities,"' the Post article states.
