New Police Chief, New Aldermen on Manchester's Agenda Monday

Manchester could have a new police chief after Monday night's board of aldermen meeting. Emergency legislation is being requested on the motion to appoint the acting police chief to the position permanently.

Manchester could have a new police chief after Monday night's board of aldermen meeting. Emergency legislation is being requested on incoming Alderman Paul Hamill's motion to appoint acting police chief, Lt. Timothy Walsh, to the position permanently.

Walsh has served as the city's police chief for nearly two years. He was nominated to be appointed to the position permanently in August of 2010, but the measure was not passed by the board of aldermen. If emergency legislation is enacted Monday night, a vote could be taken.

Also Monday, Manchester's two new aldermen, Paul Hamill of Ward 1 and John Schrader of Ward 3, will be sworn in, along with re-elected Ward 2 Alderman Michael Clement.

Solutions to the city's stormwater problems are also set to be discussed. The board is also considering moving forward with an agreement with a contractor to begin work on stormwater projects.
