So far, there have not been any problems in the work zone between Manchester and Big Bend roads, according to MoDOT. However, drivers are urged to "pay attention to signs in the work zones and alter their travel times by leaving earlier for their daily commute."

Wednesday, MoDOT stated in a news release that the morning blasting time around 10 a.m. closed the road for less than 10 minutes. As previously reported by Patch, MoDOT has warned drivers that I-270 will close for approximately 15 minutes at around 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m daily.

MoDOT announced the following update in an emailed statement Wednesday.

MoDOT closed both directions of I-270 from Manchester Road to Big Bend at 10 a.m., today as scheduled. The interstate closure lasted less than ten minutes for the rock blast. Traffic on northbound I-270 was slow north of Big Bend, and traffic on southbound I-270 was slow north of Manchester. The major routes like Manchester, Dougherty Ferry and Big Bend did not have traffic back-ups due to the interstate closure.

MoDOT Spokesperson Kara Price tells Patch that the afternoon blasting delay took a bit longer on norhtbound I-270 due to rock from the blasting knocking over a median. Some, but not all, lanes were closed for about 20 minutes while crews cleaned up rock and readjusted the partition.
