Missouri American Water crews are replacing about 470 feet of a 6-inch diameter water main along Tree Hill Ct. from Le Manns Dr. to the end of the cul-de-sac of Tree Hill Ct. The replacement work will begin this week and is slated for completion in August 2012.
The project will replace a water line that is approximately 40 years old with new 8-inch and 6-inch diameter pipe. The work is part of Missouri American Water’s proactive water main replacement program, designed to identify and replace water lines that are at the end of their useful lives.
Replacement projects are selected based upon their community benefits, including reducing water main breaks and improving the overall integrity of the water system in the area. Missouri American Water maintains approximately 4,200 miles of water mains in the St. Louis area.
Missouri American Water invested approximately $30 million in St. Louis area water main improvements during 2011.
Drivers may notice some closures of the northbound lane of Tree Hill Ct during the projected one month construction. When possible, lane closures will be timed to minimize disruption of rush hour traffic. Missouri American Water has notified residents about maintaining water service to their homes and businesses during the construction process.
