Manchester's City Administrator Begins This Week

Andrew Hixson was sworn in Monday night and began work this week for the City of Manchester.

Andrew Hixson was appointed as new city administrator in May. His first day on the job was Monday and he was sworn in to his new position at Monday night's board of aldermen meeting.

"The first thing I'm going to address is just getting to know everybody, the council, the staff and see which direction they want to take the city," Hixson tells Patch. "Building good communication and trust with the staff and elected officials alike."

Hixson replaces Ed Blatter, who served as the Manchester city administrator and city engineer for seven-and-a-half years. Blattner announced in December he could no longer hold both positions effectively and resigned as the city administrator.

Hixson comes from Crystal City where he served as city administrator.

His annual salary as Manchester's city administrator is set at $95,000, plus a monthly car allowance of $300.
