Manchester Road Closed For Work, Drivers Will Be Detoured

Enchanted Parkway in Manchester will be closed from Howard George Drive to Manchester Road for repavement work. The closure is set for this weekend.

Crews are expected to begin repavement work on Enchanted Parkway around 9 p.m. Friday, May 17. That means Enchanted Parkway in Manchester will be closed from Howard George Drive to Manchester Road during the weekend work, according to Manchester Public Works Department Director Bob Ruck.

Traffic will be detoured during the road construction.

The work is required to be done and Enchanted Parkway reopened by 5 a.m., Monday, May 20, but the road may reopen sooner than that, Ruck said.

Manchester aldermen just voted to enter into a contract with the Missouri Department of Transportation for the work. A MoDOT contractor will perform the work and Manchester will contribute approximately $33,052.90 toward the repair of the deteriorating concrete pavement near the Enchanted Parkway and Manchester Road intersection.

Ruck and Alderman Marilyn Ottenad said this is a project that Manchester has been trying to get done for nearly five years. Ruck said it's taken numerous meetings with MoDOT to get to this point.

Crews will remove the current pavement, pour new concrete and then will need time to allow it to cure.
