Manchester Arts Council in The Works

Artists, residents and aldermen are on board to create a Manchester Arts Council.

Aldermen Michael Clement told the Manchester Board of Aldermen Monday nighth that he is getting great feedback from the community and local artists interested in creating a Manchester Arts Council.

Clement said so far 25 people have expressed serious interest to him in creating the new art council. He said the group will meet Oct. 20 to begin discussions on the council. Clement will chair council at the beginning until more residents get on board.

"We want to take small steps," Clement said.

Clement asked board members if they supported a city art council. No members spoke out against it. He said the board will eventually have to approve some type of legislation to officially create the council for the city.
