Manchester Appointing New City Administrator, Continuing Drug Task Force

The Manchester Board of Aldermen will likely vote Monday on the appointment of a new city administrator after Ed Blattner resigned from the position in December.

Andrew Hixson is set to be appointed as the new city administrator. Ed Blatter, who currently serves as the Manchester city administrator and city engineer, announced in December he could no longer hold both positions affectively and resigned as the city administrator. 

The appointment of Hixson was first announced at the last board of aldermen meeting. A vote to approve the appointment is likely Monday night. Alderman Marilyn Ottenad tells Patch Hixon is coming from Crystal City where he served as city administrator. 

Also Monday, a vote is likely to approve Blattner to serve soley as the city engineer.

Aldermen will also discuss the proposal of the city entering into a contract with St. Louis County to participate in the multi-jurisdictional drug task force. According to the documents included in this article, the city has participated in the drug task force for a number of years and the board of aldermen has determined it is in the city's best interest to continue participation.
