Due to the Presidents Day holiday, this week's Manchester Board of Aldermen meeting is Tuesday, Feb.21.

Aldermen are set to vote on a budget adjustment for the 2011 budget that would allocate $35,000 to the city's administration fund to pay for the settlement of a discrimination lawsuit.

Aldermen could also vote on whether the city will issue local business, Ridgway Insurance Group LLC, a special use permit to also operate as a Penske agent from his current location at 14575 Manchester Road. This request was not recommended by the city's Planning and Zoning Committee and Manchester's Director of Planning, Zoning and Economic Development Franz Kraintz pointed out concerns over traffic and noise at the public hearing for the permit request. This item might also be deferred for another two weeks instead of voted on Tuesday night.

Aldermen will also discuss and vote on accepting a construction bid from J.M. Marschuetz Construction Company for $146,396 for the reconstruction of Glan Tai and Big Bend Woods drives. The funds would go toward phase two of the reconstruction project. If the bid is accepted, construction is expected to begin this spring.

According to Alderman Michael Clement, Glan Tai and Big Bend Woods drives carry a large amount of traffic and were identified several years ago by city staff as needing considerable repairs. Phase one of the repairs began in 2011 and phase two begins this year if the bill passes, Clement stated in an email. The entire project is expected to be complete by 2013.

A bid for managment of the Manchester Aquatic Center may also be voted on and accepted Tuesday night. Aldermen will discuss accepting a contract of $169,650 with Lifeguards Unlimited for management of pool for the 2012 season.
