Manchester Alderman Tackle 2012 City Budget

The Manchester Board of Aldermen discussed the proposed 2012 budget Monday night. 

David Tuberty, director of finance for the city of Manchester, gave a presentation on the proposed 2012 fiscal budget. The city calculated that there would be projected revenue of all funds combined of $16.9 million with projected expenditures of $16.5 million for the overall budget.

Excess of revenue over expenditure is expected to be $410,280. The city's total reserve is expected to be $13.5 million at the end of 2012.

The general fund, or the city's operating fund, is estimated at $8,748,500 in revenues. Expenditures are estimated at $9,195,046, which is an increase of $145,00 from last year's budget. The largest expenditure in the general fund is staff related expenses, including salaries and benefits.

The general fund reserve is estimated to be $2.1 million for FY 2012.

The city wll spend a projected $1,123,147 on capitol projects, $824,260 on park and stormwater projects and $198,800 on sewer repair.

*Also Monday night, the board voted to approve an additional $43,000 for workers' compensation costs for the FY 2011 budget.
