Manchester Agenda Items Likely to Spark Heated Debate

Monday night, the Manchester Board of Aldermen is once again set to discuss the possible censuring of one of its own. In addition, a number of other items that angered board also on the agenda.

Monday night, the Manchester Board of Aldermen is once again set to discuss the possible censuring of one of its own after an ethics violation.

The board is set to discuss the possible censure, or public reprimand, of Alderman Mike Clement for the second time. Clement was absent from the Feb. 22 board meeting due to a scheduling conflict, during which the resolution to discuss the issue was initially introduced.

That resolution and a number of other resolutions that are included on the agenda PDF file in this article, were carried over from the Feb. 22 meeting. Introduced by Alderman Bob Tullock, the resolutions to discuss censuring Clement, to vote on the censure, to send notices to Manchester residents about Clement's ethics violation and to contact the attorney general for an opinion on the board of aldermen president position all did not sit well with most board members and residents. The discussion got heated at the beginning of the meeting as many of these issues were introduced. The issues may bring the same reaction Monday night.

Clement previously told Patch he would not be at the Feb. 22 meeting, but would be back for the March 7 meeting and ready to disuss whatever issues Tullock or other board members wanted addressed. Clement is listed on the agenda to speak about the ethics violation Monday night.

In addition, a revamped proposal to post all city expenses on the city website is set to be introdcued by Tullock, while a possible vote could come on prioritizing the city's storm water projects.
