Green Sales Tax Holiday For Town and Country

Everything may be green on Saturday, but the Missouri Department of Revenue is making it's "green" announcement a day ahead of time.

The deputy director of the Missouri Department of Revenue, John Mollenkamp, will be in St. Louis County the day before St. Patrick’s Day to promote this year’s “Show-Me Green Sales Tax Holiday.”

The event will be at 9:30 a.m., Friday, in Fenton City Hall, 625 New Smizer Mill Rd.

The sales tax holiday will be April 19-25 in Missouri. The 4.225 percent state sales tax will be waived for any purchase of qualified energy-efficient appliances during that week.

Local jurisdictions can also choose to waive their local sales taxes for even more consumer savings, however the cities of Town and Country and Manchester are not waiving local sales tax.

Town and Country is one of 10 cities in Jefferson, St. Charles and St. Louis counties that have opted to exempt qualified purchases from their respective sales taxes during the holiday.  The other nine cities are Arnold, Cottleville, Hazelwood, Hillsboro, Overland, Rock Hill, Sunset Hills, Fenton and Wentzville.  Five area special taxing districts are also participating in the holiday.

The “green” promotion is being held now in connection with the St. Patrick’s Day holiday and to give people the opportunity to find appliances best suited to their needs before making purchases in April, according to a statement from the Missouri Department of Revenue.
