Weather permitting, the blasting is set to begin Wednesday along southbound Interstate 270 at 1 p.m, MoDOT stated in a news release. This means all lanes in both directions of I-270, between Manchester Road and Interstate 44, will be closed for up to 15 minutes on weekdays..

MoDOT is urging drivers to use alternate routes and adjust travel times to avoid I-270 and Big Bend Boulevard from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 on weekdays.

Big Bend Boulevard near I-270 will also close in both directions for up to 15 minutes during the blasts.

As previously reported by Patch, it's part of the ongoing $12 million widening project.

Crews will blast and clear any rock from the interstate before reopening the lanes.

As long as the weather allows it, these closures will occur every weekday throughout this month, MoDOT stated in the release.
