Clayton Road Resurfacing Update

Road crews are making progress on resurfacing Clayon road as they conduct night work this week. Here's what's in store for the rest of the week.

Department of Public Works Director Craig Wilde reports that resurfacing west of Mason Road is compete and offers an update Thursday on what's still to come. He said traffic delays will be minimal.

Wilde released the following information in an email update on the Clayton Road Trail and Resurfacing Project.

Over the last two nights, we managed to complete the new surface west of  Mason Road.  The only paving work which remains on that end of the project is the tie in for the pavement at Masonridge Road.  Currently, we are paving the westbound lane between Oak Springs and Mason and will attempt to make the return trip covering the eastbound lane yet tonight.  This will leave only the center lane between Oak Springs and Mason (to be completed Thursday night) and the tie in of several side streets and driveways. The paving of these side street and driveway connections will have a minimal impact on traffic and will occur during the daylight hours on Monday.  Currently, striping is scheduled for Tuesday, May 1.

The schedule for the rest of the week is tentatively as follows:

  • Thursday night 7:00PM – Friday morning 5:00AM – Paving westbound Clayton between Oak Springs and Mason
  • Friday night 7:00PM – Saturday morning 5:00AM – Make up day in case of rain

Residents can also check out the city's landscape plans on its website.

It's all part of phase one of the Clayton Road Trail and Resurfacing Project. Phase one began in October and is expected to wrap up the end of May. Phase two is set to begin August or September.

The City of Town and Country has also created a Facebook page to update residents regularly on Clayton Road and trail construction.

The first phase includes resurfacing on Clayton Road beginning at Highway 141 and going to Oak Springs Lane. It also includes the construction of the Clayton Road Trail, a pedestrian walkway, from  to Oak Springs Lane.

In addition to daily Facebook updates, Wilde is sending out updates that Town and Country-Manchester Patch is posting for readers.
