Clayton Road Trail and Resurfacing Update

Despite wet weather, installation of the garden wall at Town and Country Lane is underway and paving between 141 and Oak Springs is set to begin.

This winter's wet weather has been a setback for construction of the Clayton Road Trail Project, but Department of Public Works Director Craig Wilde said crews are still hard at work and plan to have the trail paved in the next few weeks.

Wilde released the following email update on the Clayton Road Trail Project.

We have been working on every available day to get the grading work completed for the trail.  Earlier this week, we started on the installation of the garden wall at Town and Country Lane.  This is the last major peripheral item before the final grading can be completed for the trail pavement.  The soggy conditions have slowed us, but we are still making fairly good progress for January / February.  It is our plan to have the rock base installed and the trail paved in the next few weeks.

As soon as we can find a good weather window after the trail paving, we will begin the roadway paving between 141 and Oak Springs.  This is anticipated to be about a three week process which will involve the milling of the existing pavement, base repairs in certain sections and then the placement of paving fabric and the final surface course.

Residents can now check out the city's landscape plans on its website.

The City of Town and Country has also created a Facebook page to update residents regularly on Clayton Road and trail construction.

The first phase includes resurfacing on Clayton Road beginning at Highway 141 and going to Oak Springs Lane. It also includes the construction of the Clayton Road Trail, a pedestrian walkway, from  to Oak Springs Lane.

The contractor also has the option to do some night paving. Wilde said more specific information, including overnight work, will be released shortly so residents are aware of any disruptions that may occur.

In addition to daily Facebook updates, Wilde is sending out updates in weekly email blasts that Town and Country-Manchester Patch is posting for readers.
