Clayton Road Project Update: Road Work Next Week

The final leg of the Clayton Road Trail is paved and now crews move on to resurfacing the road as part of Town and Country's the Clayton Road Trail and Resurfacing Project. The road work begins Monday and may cause some traffic delays.

Town and Country Department of Public Works Director Craig Wilde just released the following email update on the Clayton Road Trail Project. 

I know there has been a lot of discussion and anticipation about the trail on Clayton Road.  Yesterday, we paved the final leg of the trail between and Oak Springs.  Next week will provide a flurry of activity (weather permitting).  Backfill and final grading will continue to progress while the landscaping installation will begin mid week.

Starting Monday, we will begin the most impacting portion of the project when the paving operations commence.  This will include the entire surface of the roadway from Old Woods Mill (near 141) and Oak Springs Lane (just east of Topping Road).  It is anticipated that there are two days of cold milling operations followed by two days of wedging operations.  Weather permitting, these will be completed by the end of next week.  This is an aggressive schedule for these operations, but the goal is attainable.  It should be noted that the wedging consists of a thin layer of asphalt which is intended to level the existing pavement.  This first layer of asphalt will not look like and is not intended to look like the permanent finished surface.  We ask you to please seek alternate routes when possible.  Operations are scheduled to commence at 8:00AM Monday and will wind down by 3:00PM.       

Wilde previously stated that the goal is to have the "hard improvements" complete by the end of April with only finish grading, landscaping and minor peripheral work to remain.

The City of Town and Country has also created a Facebook page to update residents regularly on Clayton Road and trail construction.

The first phase includes resurfacing on Clayton Road beginning at Highway 141 and going to Oak Springs Lane. It also includes the construction of the Clayton Road Trail, a pedestrian walkway, from  to Oak Springs Lane.
