The following is an email update from Town and Country Public Works Director Craig Wilde:

We have had a productive and transformative few weeks. The weather has cooperated with us providing just enough rain to keep the sod going but yet staying out of our way during work hours. As you have probably noticed, much of the trail paving is complete and the finishes are going in. I have been working with a number of the property owners on addressing some of the details specific to each property and will continue to do so. Many of these items are on my punch list to be addressed by the contractor after all of the heavy lifting is complete. I encourage you to provide your feedback to me regarding any issues which you see, as this helps me address them in a manner which meets your expectations.

A few items which I have been getting questioned on are below along with a brief description of the situation surrounding them.

Q: Why is the island at the intersection of Municipal Center Drive sticking out into the drive lane?

A: This island is set based upon the alignment of the trail, the location of the barriers on the bridge deck and the need for the refuge space for pedestrians crossing this intersection. The lanes off this intersection will be shifted to the south as a part of the restriping which will occur after the paving operation.

Q: Why is the trail stopped on each side of the Ballas Road Intersection?

A: As you may or may not be aware, the jurisdictional authority of Ballas Road was transferred from the Missouri Department of Transportation to the St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic late last year. Due to differences in the design requirements for these two agencies, our previously approved crossing plan for this intersection required some modifications. We have been working with St. Louis County to address these changes and are coming to an arrangement for the same. It has caused some delays in this location, but we are progressing.

Now for the really important information...

On Monday, July 8, we will commence the milling/paving operations for Clayton Road. Starting at 7 p.m. Monday night, we will take off with our milling operation from near Oak Springs Lane heading east. It is anticipated that this milling operation will move through the project over the course of three nights.

...I will be sending out daily updates once this operation starts as well as feeding information via our facebook page (www.facebook.com/claytonresurfacing).
