Sunny Weather Helping Clayton Road Project's Progress

Recent rain and snow delayed progress on the Clayton Road construction a bit, but it's reportedly back on track thanks to the recent dry weather.

The snow and rain delayed work on the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancement Project a bit last week, but it's back on track with this week's dry and sunny weather.

That's the latest information from Town and Country Department of Public Works Director Craig Wilde.

Wilde is reminding drivers to be cautious when driving through the area and released the following details as part of an email update on the project this week.

Phase II – Oak Springs to Bopp

It has been an interesting couple of weeks from a weather perspective.  The snow storm last Sunday caused us some delays, but now that it has come and gone, we are looking forward to more progress.  We continue to complete the installation of the storm sewers.  All of the potential utility conflicts have been resolved and the necessary relocations are underway.  Charter Communication even managed to work around the weather and complete some of their work this past week.  The signal at Bopp Road and Clayton Road gave us some timing problems but these should be resolved.  If you experience any additional undue delays at this signal, please let me know.  Once we get up out of the ground things should progress at what appears to be a much quicker pace.  There has been plenty happening so far, but to the average motorist, it is hard to notice much more than the disturbance.

Phase III – Crossing of HWY 141

This was also impacted by the weather, but not to as significant of a degree.  Much of the grading and sidewalk installation is complete.  Over the next week we will be focusing on the installation of curbing and retaining walls.  Our signal contractor is expected to be on site in the near future also.

Ground was broken in September and construction began in October beginning the three-phase project to repave Clayton Road from Hwy 141 to the city limits near Bopp Road.

The project also includes creating a multi-use pedestrian trail on the north side of Clayton Road and installing a pedestrian walkway on the existing bridge over Hwy 141 which will connect the sidewalk on the north side of Clayton Road at Old Woods Mill Road to the intersection at Clayton Road and Woods Mill Road.

When completed, the trail will run the length of the city, from Town and Country Crossing in the west to the city’s eastern edge at Bopp Road.

You can view information on the project web page, including plan sheets and landscaping plans. You can view this information here.

The City of Town and Country has also created a Facebook page to update residents regularly on Clayton Road and trail construction.

In addition to daily Facebook updates, Wilde is sending out updates that Town and Country-Manchester Patch is posting for readers.

For more information, go to the city's website page dedicated to the project.

Residents can also email Public Works Director Craig Wilde if they would like to receive email updates or have questions. Wilde can also be contacted by phone at 314-587-2824.
