Clayton Road Construction to Impact Traffic And More This Week

If you drive along Clayton Road, you know progress on the Clayton Road Resurfacing and Pedestrian Enhancement Project has been underway since the year began.

The City of Town and Country is warning drivers to be aware of likely delays this week as phase two of the project continues between Oaks Springs Lane to Bopp Lane. As previously reported by Patch, phase one of the project is complete. 

In addition to an impact on traffic, Laclede Gas service to some residents may be affected and Charter Communicatons will likely make some changes in the area this week.

Town and Country Department of Public Works Director Craig Wilde is reminding drivers to be cautious when driving through the area and released the following details as part of an email update on the project this week.

We have a busy week planned.  You will see some things that will impact traffic patterns.  On Thursday (3/7) we will be installing a lane drop from  Oak Springs Lane to I-270 and another from just east of Ballas Road to Bopp Road.  The road will be restriped to two lanes in these areas for the near future.  This is to facilitate the contractor and utility companies as they complete the relocation and grading work. 

Starting Wednesday (3/6) our maintenance contractor will be replacing a section of culvert pipe which crosses under Clayton Road in the area of Highland Point and Sellenriek.  This should take a few days to accomplish and will require some delays as we accomplish the crossing.  It is possible that we may elect to complete a portion of it in the overnight hours later in the week in an effort to minimize traffic impacts and enhance our productivity. 

Laclede Gas is on site relocating some service lines.  If your line is affected, you will be contacted directly by the gas company.  Later this week, we hope to have Charter Communications on site to complete their relocations also. 

Ground was broken in September and construction began in October beginning the three-phase project to repave Clayton Road from Hwy 141 to the city limits near Bopp Road.  

The project also includes creating a multi-use pedestrian trail on the north side of Clayton Road and installing a pedestrian walkway on the existing bridge over Hwy 141 which will connect the sidewalk on the north side of Clayton Road at Old Woods Mill Road to the intersection at Clayton Road and Woods Mill Road.

When completed, the trail will run the length of the city, from Town and Country Crossing in the west to the city’s eastern edge at Bopp Road.
