Cilantro Recall In Effect

The FDA is recalling Pacific-brand cilantro after a test was positive for salmonella. No illnesses have been reported.

No customers have reported illnesses, but the FDA asked consumers to return cilantro bought between Nov. 16 and Dec. 10. The cilantro is packaged with "Pacific" on the twist tie and with the UPC number "33383 80104." The cilantro also comes in sleeves with the UPC number "40695 80104."

The cilantro was distributed by Pacific International in Missouri, as well as in California, Arizona, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.

Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems, according to the FDA. Healthy persons infected with aalmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
