Candidates Filing for 2013 Spring Elections

Seats on the Town and Country and Manchester board of aldermen, West County EMS and Fire Board and the Parkway School Board are all up for election along with the position of Town and Country Mayor.

The race is on for municipal, fire protection district and school board candidates in local elections to be held April 2, 2013.

The official filling period began Dec. 11 and will run until Jan. 15, 2013. Patch has a list of all those who have filed so far in the elections that will impact Town and Country and Manchester residents. 

Council members are elected to two-year terms, while the mayor serves for four.

City of Town and Country

Four of seats on the Town and Country Board of Aldermen are be up for election in April: Lynn Wright from Ward I, Tim Welby from Ward II, Fred Meyland-Smith from Ward III and Jon Benigas from Ward IV. Town and Country's Mayor Jon Dalton's term also expires in April. 

The following individuals have filed to run, as of Jan. 14:

  • Mayor: Mayor Jon Dalton (Incumbent)
  • Mayor: Barbara Ann Hughes
  • Ward I: Lynn Wright
  • Ward II: Tim Welby
  • Ward III: Fred Meyland-Smith
  • Ward IV: Jon Benigas

City of Manchester 

Three seats on the Manchester Board of Aldermen are up for election in April: Paul Hamill from Ward I, Michael Clement from Ward II and John Schrader from Ward III. 

The following individuals have filed to run, as of Dec. 16:

  • Ward I: Paul Hamill
  • Ward II: Michael Clement
  • Ward III: John Schrader (Incumbent)
  • Ward III: Anthony Mueller

West County EMS and Fire Protection District

The seat of West County EMS and Fire Protection District Board Chair Richard Rognan expires in April. Rognan has reportedly served on the board for 12 years. He is CPA with Rognan & Associates.

Parkway School District

Two director positions are open on the Parkway Board of Education, each for a three-year term, in the April 2013 election.  The expiring terms are for Tom Appelbaum and Dr. Sam Sciortino. The seats are not individually up for election, instead the top two vote-getters from all the candidates will be elected to the open spots.

  • Jenifer A. Clifton
  • Tom Appelbaum, (incumbent)
  • Daniel P. Brodsky
  • Debbie Hopper
  • Brad Williams
  • Ken Eigenberg
  • Diane Finnestead

A candidate forum, sponsored by the League of Women Voters, is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday, March 11, at Parkway South Middle School, 760 Woods Mill Rd., 63011.
