Did you head to the polls to cast your vote in Tuesday's election?

Polls opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday and remained open until 7 p.m. to Manchester and Town and Country voters.

Be sure to check back to Town and Country - Manchester Patch for election updates throughout the day and for results Tuesday night once the polls close.

Many of the local municipal races are uncontested, but the Town and Country Mayor race and the Ward III Manchester Alderman race are both contested.

Patch has you covered with its candidate profiles. If a candidate filled out his or her information, we've included it in our election guide.

Tuesday was slow day at the polls by most accounts, but Patch found both Town and Country mayoral candidates conducting last-minute campaigning at local polling places.

Mayor Jon Dalton spent the day at the Town and Country municipal center.

"Here to meet and greet voters and answer questions," Dalton explained to Patch. "I've stood on this corner every election and wouldn't do it any other way."

Dalton's opponent, former Town and Country alderman Barbara Ann Hughes, spent the day trying to visit each of her respective polling places so people can meet the woman on the campaign flyers.

"I think it's important to put a face in the place," Hughes tells Patch. "I've had a very positive response. I think the people have appreciated it.

Many Town and Country residents tell Patch the mayoral race is what brought them to the polls Tuesday.

"For me, the mayor of Town and Country," explained resident Vicki Mower. "I want to make sure the existing mayor is re-elected."

"The Proposition P and the mayor. Those two are the main ones," Vicki Crawford tells Patch. "It's important that the right mayor get in for Town and Country."

Crawford was among many local residents that Proposition P brought to the polls. Prop P would impose an additional sales tax for improvements to the Gateway Arch grounds and local, county and regional parks and trails.

"It's a very important issue. Very beneficial," Crawford said.

Manchester resident Owen Taylor and his wife also came out the support Prop P.

"Because we like to walk on the parks and the trails," Taylor said.

However, Lori, another Manchester resident who only wanted to be identified by her first name name, said Prop P brought her out, but she does not support passing it.

"I just don't want my taxes increased," Lori explained.

Of course, Patch also found voters who simply came out to exercise their right to vote.

"We vote every election," retired Des Peres mayor and Town and Country resident Sharon Burkhardt explained.

Eight candidates are also running for one of two "at-large" spots on the Parkway School District Board of Education. Click here to see their responses along with some basic information on their background and reasons for running.

The term of West County EMS and Fire Protection District Board Chair Richard Rognan expires in April. Rognan filed for for re-election and that race is uncontested.
