Town and Country police and West County EMS and Fire Protection District rescue crews responded to the accident at Route 141 and Highway 40 around 1 p.m. Monday.
No word yet on exactly how the crash happened, but one car struck a utility pole head on at the corner of the Highway 40 entrance ramp and South Outer 40 Road.
Deputy Chief Tim Dorsey tells Patch they got the call just before 1 p.m. Two SUVs were involved in the accident. The only person in each vehicle was the driver.
One of the drivers was trapped and had to be extricated from the car, Dorsey tells Patch.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital with what are described by paramedics and police as "non life threatening injuries."
The crash backed up traffic on northbound Route 141 between Clayton Road and Highway 40.
The scene was cleared and traffic back to normal around 1:30 p.m.
