Captain Gary Hoelzer said a woman saw a motion light activated in the backyard of her home, thought it was suspicious, looked out her second-story window and saw a man looking into her first-story window below.

"So they looked out the second floor window and they see a male looking in their first story window in the back of the house. Pretty creepy," Hoelzer said. "It was the wife who saw that. She wakes up her husband, and he goes down and he (the prowler) took off running. Maybe the husband turned on a light or something."

Hoelzer said the prowler reportedly ran west through neighboring backyards.

The subject is described as a male, tall, thin and wearing blue jeans and a dark-colored shirt.

Police believe this incident could be related to a series of residential burglaries that have occurred recently, where the suspect enters unlocked doors of homes during the overnight hours. Residents have been in the homes at the same time during some of these incidents, most often sleeping.

"That's about the time other burglaries are happening, particularly the burglaries on Conway Village and Conway Hill," Hoelzer told Patch.

He said during the recent series of burglaries, the suspect enters unlocked doors of houses during the overnight hours and then steal items and other items left out and on kitchen counters.

"No. 1, lock the doors. We really need residents to secure their valuables in their homes and their vehicles," Hoezler said. "This series of burglaries that we are having, they are not forced entry, at least the ones we think this could be linked to."

Meanwhile, police are also reporting another theft in the 12800 block of Topping Manor Drive around 1:22 a.m. Sunday. Hoelzer said someone entered an unlocked car parked in the driveway and took a Sony I-POD, Escort radar detector and boxing gloves.
