The chase finally ended when the female driver of the van was heading east on Page and drove between two cars on the Lindbergh overpass. She then struck another car in that location, just east of Maryland Heights, in unincorporated St. Louis County.

Hoelzer said the initial call was for second degree robbery, which involves stealing by force but without a deadly weapon.

Chesterfield Police Lt. Steve Lewis confirms to Patch that no weapon was involved, but that the incident started from a reported shoplifting at Chesterfield mall where a store clerk was pushed, making the crime an assault associated with a stealing which classifies it as a robbery. Lewis stated that he is not sure what store the alleged shoplifting took place.
