Theft Tops Manchester's Recent Crimes

Thieves target Walmart and Kohls in this most recent police blotter. The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department.

June 4: 14400 block Manchester Road 

Stealing by Fraud: Police said a customer bought iPhones at a reduced business contract rate then immediately canceled the contract, but did not return the phones. Investigators said this person has reportedly pulled the same scam at other phone stores in the area. The estimated value of the phones is $1,200.

June 4: 700 block Rockridge Drive

Animal complaint: Police said they received a call of a dog on the loose. Officers caught the dog and returned the pet to its owner. No word on if the owner was cited.

June 3: 600 block Auber Drive

Odor of Gas/Smoke: A resident reported problems with a gas stove, telling police it made a popping sound, then they smelled gas. Invesitgators found a container of alcohol had been stored under the stove. Police said the container overheated and exploded.

June 3: 400 block Lafayette Center 

Stealing: One person was arrested after police said they placed several items in a shopping cart  then left the without paying for the items. The person was stopped and arrested outside the store.

June 1: 14000 block Andersohn Drive 

Stealing: Two people were spotted hiding store merchandise at  and then leaving the store without paying for it. Both were stopped outside the store and arrested. The value of the stolen items is $115.

May 31: 14000 block Andersohn Drive 

Stealing: Kohls reported the theft of several pieces of womens' clothing to police. The estimated value of the stolen items is $420. One person was arrested and charged with stealing.

May 31: 200 block Highlands Boulevard Drive 

Stealing: prevention officers called police to say they had one person in custody for shoplifting. The person reportedly stole make up, toiletries, and jewelry totaling $50.
