Theft Suspects Flee, Hit Man Walking Dog With Car

Manchester police say two suspects have been arrested after they struck a man who interrupted a burglary with their car.

The following information was supplied by the Manchester Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction where an arrest was made.

Manchester police are seeking charges against two people they say struck a man with a car as they fled the scene of a burglary.

Investigators said a man was walking his dog May 8 when he noticed "suspicious activiity" in the rear parking lot of 1203 Pinyon Drive just before midnight. The man reportedly asked the person in the parking lot what he was doing, to which the person responded he was "waiting for a friend."

According to the police report, moments later, the dog walker said he saw a second person come running with what appeared to be a speaker. Both suspects then got into a car, struck the man who was walking his dog and knocked him to the ground as they backed up and then struck another car as they fled.

St. Louis County Police stopped the suspects' car in the 100 block of DuMotier Drive in West County shortly after, but the two fled on foot. Police seized their vehicle and the stolen speakers.

Manchester police tell Patch the two were found and arrested within on week. Police have applied for charges, including second degree assault and robbery, with the St. Louis County Prosecutors Office. 

Police said the victim who was struck by the car was treated at the hospital for a bump on his head and abrasions.
